From Hargeisa TO Hyderabad!

When we hear India, i am pretty sure one of first names that pops up into our minds is Mumbai, New Delhi or other big Indian cities, but Hyderabad is also one of India busiest and biggest cities, earlier last month when i went there there was plenty of things i learned and here i wrote this blog to share it with you.

As a pure Hargeisawi who spent most of his life living home it was good experience seeing some of the other part of the world, i experienced new culture and new of way of living even tough my stay was as short as 1 month.

Hyderabad which comes under the state of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh is Indian IT, Pharma and Medical hub and this is the reason some of the international giant companies such as Microsoft, IBM, HP, Google as well as restaurants and fast food chains such as KFC, McDonald’s, Domino’s Pizza etc have a branches there.

Apart from that Hyderabad is a place which attracts foreign visitors who witness the blend of ancestral heritage and modern technology. The deep rooted cultural history of Hyderabad is evident from its monuments, mosques, temples, varied art forms and crafts. The monuments, minarets and mosques of Hyderabad with its impressive architectural style attract visitor.

The most surprising part that you may not believe is that Hyderabad is cheaper place to live, (i am talking about basic living such as food, cloths, transportation and rent) compared to Hargeisa, which is almost is too expensive for a city of it’s size.

WHAT I LOVED:

Riding the rickshaw (Bajaaj)

Unfortunately there is no many (if not any) in Hargeisa, this small taxi is not only the proper way to explore the city, but also is very cheap they only charge 70 rs (about 6000 SL) between let’s say isha Borama and the city centre

Food

You may think we (Somalis) know how to cook, we may love our own Bariis and Pasto but i am pretty sure anyone with a tongue will love their food too, they know how to cook their favored Chicken meal, or their famous Biryani and Haleem

Work Culture

Whilst i was there i loved the work environment, people are career oriented, they are hard workers, and they are all running to work, it was a good seeing some dedicated people and i can say from the women who clean the road, to the nurses who work at hospitals, to the guys who own companies, everybody is running to his work once the clock approaches 10am.z

WHAT SURPRISED ME

Women

i was very surprised when i first saw women doing construction jobs, by saying that i mean they were KUULI, it was first time i have ever seen women doing these kind of jobs, and it was like ‘well everything has a first time, don’t be too surprised!’.

Walking People

I have noticed many times people walking without shoes in the roads or riding their cars without shoes at first it was shocking, i asked myself ‘can’t they afford buying some shoes’ but later i was told that when they are fasting they don’t wear shoes, so that was another one.

Safety

Well i had to add this one, Hyderabad is very safe place to live, people leave their cars, bikes on the roads at night and even their houses open at sunlight and nobody steals them, something that is totally the opposite back at home (Hargeisa).

Of course it will be silly to compare between the two cities i will not do that but here are some differences

From Hargeisa TO Hyderabad (Differences)

– Hyderabad is probably bigger than Hargeisa 7 times and yes it’s not even India’s top 3 biggest cities.
– Hyderabad houses 3.6 million people compared to Hargeisa which has a population of 750,000.
– Hargeisa is much cooler and have a better weather compared to Hyderabad, which is very very hot.
– In Hargeisa Work and schools start at 7:00am but in Hyderabad everything starts at 10:00am (but majority of shops are opened 11:00am).

I hope you enjoyed my review and thanks for reading it, many more blogs will come in sha’a Allah. Stay tuned
